Drinking herbal tea is basically a requirement while on the HCG diet. Not only is it good for you (even when not on the diet) but it is also a nice break from just plain water. Getting good tea is pretty easy and cheap. I recommend going to your local grocery store and buying a few variety packs of tea. Find what your favorites are from the variety pack and then you'll know which ones you want to drink all the time. If you can find a local tea shop that is even better. Fresh loose leaf tea is the best!
Green tea is the most important to drink, so I'm going to cover how to make the perfect cup. Many people make the simple mistake of brewing the tea too hot, making it bitter. So follow these steps and you'll enjoy your bitter-less tea:
1) Boil your water. If you don't have a tea kettle, no big deal.
2) Once your water is boiling or your tea kettle is whistling, turn the heat off. Your water will be about 100-93 C. This is TOO HOT to brew right away and what makes green tea bitter!
3) Let your water sit for about 3-4 minutes. We want to the temperature to go down to 70 C or 175 F.
4) Add your hot water to your tea, let it brew for 2 minutes.
Adding Truvia to your tea will sweeten it up. Drink all the green tea you want!
